Welcome to our research group!

The Networked Augmented Virtual Environment (NAVE) Research Group is engaged in research in a broad multi-disciplinary areas of Mixed Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) for Smart City, Industrials and Metaverse. We have institute and industrial collaborators.

Our work in Mixed Reality, IoT for Smart City and Metaverse mainly includes:
  • visual localization and modeling;
  • Reality Digital Twins;
  • Image based 3D recovery, shape and pose estimation;
  • Past: semantic SLAM and scene graph;
  • Past: 3D reconstruction from a single image; semantic image matching;
  • Past: Distributed virtual environment;
  • Past: HTML5-based editing for teaching assistance;
  • Past: mobile AR application for surgery assistance;
  • Past: sharing 3D deformation/Cloud-based 3D deformation.
Our work in Artificial Intelligence for Metaverse includes:
  • metaverse cyberspace security;
  • semantic segmentation and space intelligence;
  • Past: multiple object tracking; person re-identification, car re-identification;
  • Past: crowd counting;
  • Past: large-scale camera network topology based on spatio-temporal connectivity;
  • Past: collaboration work in Baidu ApolloScape dataset.

In the past, we also worked on Natural Phenomena Simulation, mainly focusing on capturing, includes:

  • Light field retrieval and display;
  • Flame data retrieval, reconstructing their density and thermal fields;
  • Fluid simulation, esp. SPH-based solid-fliud interaction;
  • 3D fliud simulation on mobile devices
